Blog #6 Parody

I find this parody of Hitler Spas attack to be extremely funny, because it was able to make something very serious become extremely. So it starts out as a serious talk about Germany going to be bombed by the allies and then somebody walks in and tells Hitler that he has the hots the for him and wants to make love to him, then he mentions that we have time to do it now. This scene brings out unexpected bluntness and a great WTF moment to how the seriousness of the war that was going on. Next Hitler asks all the men who have a "Boner" to stop out, many step out of the room, another extremely funny part of the parody because it incases a unexpected bluntness and a WTF moment. Hitler then complains that he's about to get bombed and most likely die and everyone who is close to him or around him is gay, quiet ironic since Hitler sent a bunch of Jews and Homosexuals to concentration camps. Hitler then mentions that he can't help it if he has good looks, which is funny because he looks like crap and has really bad hair flow. He then goes on to talk about how he use to win competitions and how Jewish kids made fun of him and called him "gay," bring back the irony of what really happen during the Nazi Germany in World War II. So overall I found this video to be a great parody of Hitlers freakout about Allies advancement into Germany and it did a great job of using subtitles to substitute for the use of German language.

Visual Essay

I have created a visual argument trying to show the Palestine vs. Israel war and how unjust of a war it is. You will notice that my attitude toward the situation is sad but yet angry, and this will easily be expressed by the music that I have chosen. What effect I was intended to have created to those who have watched this video, was to make them understand what is going on in the Middle East that doesn’t involve Iraq or Afghanistan but actually what Israel and America and what it is doing to the Palestinian citizens.

The media that I was required to use to create this visual argument could only is expressed through images and music. The way that these types of medium will convey a message was with the song expressing my sadness, anger, and desperation to the situation and the images telling why I felt the way I did about the situation. So during the creation of the visual argument I assumed that the viewer had little to no knowledge on the situations on this topic between the Palestinians and Israelis for many years and how United States and other powerful countries do nothing to help Palestinians and rather United States supports Israel. The overall impression that it has created in me was something like, “wow, stuff like this is happening almost everyday and how information like this does not reach the public?” It’s because Israel is doing everything in their power to prevent the world from knowing what they are doing. Another impression that it creates on me is, “It’s just like the holocaust all over again except it is the Jews who are the exterminators and Palestinians as the enemy.” During the visual essay, however, I try to evoke a negative feeling about what is going on, and do have a bit of a positive ending showing the Palestinian flag and moral of how we the Palestinians will never just give up and will fight from this oppression and will get our freedom and land back, Ending their occupation of Gaza Strip and the West Bank and stopping the development on Palestinian land.

The argumentative purpose of the visual essay was to convey was to stop supporting Israel and really understand what Israel has done to the Palestinians by taking their land, returning only a small amount back to the Palestinians and now slowly taking it away from them using force and building on it, thinking that if they (Israeli) build on the land should belong to them. The cultural value I try to invoke is no different then the feelings I was trying to express, the opposite of good, a hard life and having no freedom and no where to go. Emotions are the same story; sadness, shame, guilt, nostalgia, anger and all are expressed through just pictures and are amplified with the music.

The way that the visual argument is composed is that it starts by showing the holocaust refugees going to Palestine then going straight into what has happened because of that. Most of the pictures will have your eyes drawn in right towards the center, grasping the most important and then moving outward. In the foreground you will always see Palestinian casualties or conflicts with the Israeli soldier or destruction they have created and in the background you will always be the land of Palestine and what the Israelis have done to it, either destroying it or building on it. The pictures will also have motion to add a much more series and dramatic experience. The pictures will move from up to down for sad feeling and then down to up or zooming in for an uprising or encouraging feeling.

Overall the creation of my visual argument went very well I felt as though I was able to get my point across with only using pictures and songs. Images that I have used may have been graphic in nature but in order to show what I’m talking about and what is actually going on in Palestine. I also choose a pacing that was fairly quick to show that there are a lot of incidences like this that has happened and that there is a lot to show. My musical selection was also another way for me to express my feeling on the situation of Palestine vs. Israel. It has a tone to show my sadness and then escalate for my anger and then decrescendo to leave a feeling that the song can go on for much longer and that it could never end, kind of like the war has.

Blog #5 Modes of Discouce

Classification: In our AP Comp class, we are divided into three different groups: the succeeding, the struggling, and the average. The succeed group would be classified as people who can pass the class with an A or B easily. The struggling would be people who try to get a decent grade but fail to do so. Then the average, they are the group of people who are considered to be the people in-between the succeeding and struggling. Thus meaning they try hard, and want to move forward but are pushed back by the fast pace or confusion. In order to succeed in a class, requires all of us to work together and try to succeed as one. So if your reading this blog your most likely will know what group you fit in. However in order succeed in this class we all need to assist each other, especially in each other’s time of need and must work to push each other continue persisting through the class and working to achieve a higher grade and goal.

Definition: Jealousy is having negative feeling toward something or someone because of rivalry, success, or advantages that person has. The origin of jealousy is psychological. Jealousy therefore is an emotion that we almost all feel, through emotions mixed with anger, sadness, and disgust. Jealousy can be seen in infants of five months or old. Also some people will claim that jealousy is in every culture, while others will say that it is a culture-specific phenomenon.

Argument: So some people will say that the Japanese or Americans make the best cars. I think otherwise, the best cars that I must say are made are German. German cars are the cars that have always have had timeless design and always have the performance and luxury that you would want from a car. American cars can't compete with the reliability and ability that German car are made and Japanese cars, even though they are reliable, lack that executive and crispness feeling you get from a well-made German car. So if you were a person who is looking for a car, my first choice to you would have to be German. Those are the cars you would get what you paid for and will always keep you happy for the years to come.

Narration: As little Billy goes to the bathroom to take his first pee in the toilet he notices one thing. The toilet seat was far too big for his little bottom to sit on. He was confused and baffled on what he should do. He went searching around the bathroom to find a solution to this problem but concluded with no progress or result to the problem. To make it worse little Billy's urge to pee grew larger and was began to drive him crazy. You see however, little Billy realized he was a man and didn't need to sit down to pee. So little Billy manned up and took his pee while standing up on a stool. From that point on Billy has had no problems using the toilet and is a happy little man.

Comparison/Contrast: There about two major feelings you can have about technology (Cell phones/Computers) and that is either you love them or hate them. The meaning of loving these technologies is having passionate affection to them and enjoys having them. Loving these technologies can also show that you use the technology all the time and have it with you almost everywhere. While hating them implies that you dislike technology around you. Thus meaning you would try or will avoid the usage them.

Division of Analysis: The Cold War was fought through technological advancements. Creating weapons that would help lead a nation to greatness and hopefully lead the other to fall. This is exactly what happened between the Soviet Union and United States. Weapons were built and tensions were pulled till the breaking point. We were a push away to total world destruction and end of humanity. The space race eventually took place; relieve nuclear tension, and allowing United States to be the first nation to land a man on the moon. Soon after Soviet Union collapse and America won the war.

Process Analysis: So to get a car moving takes lots of steps. First to get the car started requires a battery and it needs to have a high amount of power in order to get the drive chain spinning and ignites the spark plugs in order the get the engine running (depending on the engine size will also determine battery size). Once the engine get's started it begins to get its electrical supply from the alternator. This alternator will now charge the battery and run most of the electric in the car but only while the engine is running with the alternator do this. So now you may be wondering what powers the alternator? The answer is the engine itself and it runs on a belt that that runs off the main pulley (camshaft). The camshaft is where all power of the engine is place and the part that is also transfers most of that power to the transmission. To rotate the camshaft is the job pistons that get forced down by gas pressure explosion causing it to push down allowing the camshaft to rotate. So from the camshaft, power is transferred to the transmission, which is what allows you to go forward, backward, or nowhere. The transmission will then transfer power to axle, which will then lead to the rear end (rear-wheel drive) where power will be transferred to the wheel, thus allowing you to move.

Description: Lafanda became shy whenever she was around this boy, and often return his wave with a warm smile. She often picked the seat closest to him during a class and always ended up in the same group as him. Their eyes will often meet in class that would put her in a trance. Her heart always raced when she was by him, and all her friends knew she was in love.

Cause & Effect: So in order to succeed and pass school you need to do your work and pay attention in class. But then if you fail to do any of this and skip doing your work or avoid learning the effect can be horrible in how your life will lead up to. Not doing any of the work in school will must likely end up with you not graduating high school and making it impossible to land a good job or even get into a college. You will eventually notice that this will then end up being the dumbest mistake you have ever made, making you wishing you had paid attention in class. So what I’m trying to say is do your work now and try your best to succeed and achieve higher/greater success later in life.

Example: There’s a quote that goes around and it goes like this, “treat others the way you would like to be treated.” This means not to make fun of anybody behind their back and prevent the hurting of their feelings. This expresses that all humans are born equally and should be treated equally. We see this everyday with people preventing to say something irrational and being kind to one another. This quote also goes with another, “what goes around comes around.” Meaning if you treat others bad than you could/can expect to be treated badly as well. I guess you can say it’s like the Cinderella story, of how the sisters treated Cinderella badly and ended up being the losers while Cinderella got to life the happy life.

Blog #4 Time when I was Confused (2.0)

So the score was fifty to fifty-four and we were losing. So I pass the ball to my teammate Brandon and he's able score a lay up. We fall back for our defense which was set up as two-three. A two-three formation is if you think of a basketball court, you would have three people defending in front of the hoop and two people on top right around the top of the key or free throw line. This was a formation that is meant to prevent the opposing team to enter the lane and have the ability to go for a lay-up. There was one problem with this formation, there five players on the court were a combination of boys that were tall and large, these guys could plow into the lane and have an easier time to make a layup. Their team also kids that can stay back and make shots, this was almost the kryptonite to our defense play because you don’t want to go to far out of the defensive lane and give an opening to a layup. So with the opposing team having possession of the ball, after the points scored by Brandon, they were trying their hardest to try and reply with another layup and keep up their lead. However our two-three defense setup worked like a charm preventing them from getting up to the board and getting a shot in the basket. With a rebound by our teammate Mark, he was able the dribble the ball up to half-court and give us the time to set up our offense which was a moving and rotating one-three-one formation. This was a great formation because it gave us the ability to shoot when we are open or pass the ball to the once center player in the lane to try and get a layup in. When we were able to set up the formation I began to try and shake off my defender my trying to make quick moves and requesting picks. The ball eventually gets passed to me were I notice the inside man open and wanting the ball, so I pass to him the ball. He then tries to back it up to get closer the board, however; when he goes up for the shot he get call a five second violation, thus forcing us to walk away and give the other team the ball. A five second violation is when an offensive player stays in the lane for over five seconds; basically it can be called "puppy guarding." So with the opposing team having position with the ball, they quickly moved up the quart and gave the ball to an outside wingman where he had enough time to take and make a three pointer, thus changing the score to: fifty-two to fifty-seven. I then passed the ball in to our point guard Mark, where he was put under pressure by the opposing team playing a "press" on him. A "press" is when you try to prevent the ball from crossing the half-court line, because if the ball doesn’t cross within ten seconds it becomes a violation, thus giving the other team the ball. Mark, however, was able to break through being able to give the ball to Brandon who went up for a shot. I was then was able to set up position under the basket and become ready to get a rebound incase his shoot didn’t go in. As everyone watch’s Brandon's shoot travel through the air and hit the rim we all knew that it wasn't going to go in. Squatting and ready to spring up and grab the ball for a rebound, I jump and grabbing the ball, however, the person behind me was also able to get his hands on the ball. As we both grab the ball he was able to pull me down making me land head first onto the court floor.

This was the time were I felt my most confused in my entire life, and not only mentally but especially physically. First think I remember is me beganing to get up slowing, having a hard time seeing what's around me and having the little strength to push myself up. The only way I could have gotten up off the ground was by rolling on my belly and using both my legs and arms to push me off the ground. Then as I worked my way up to my feet all I could do was think about how to make myself seem all right, telling people I was fine and doing my best to look like nothing happened. My head however was spinning, it was hurting, I was trying to figure out what happened, and I was trying to act normal. After a few solid minutes I was able to pull most of myself together and finish the few minutes I had left of my rotation on the court. I was however; not playing the same was I was before. I became much more sluggish and tired that I kind of just wanted nothing to do with playing, but I still wanted to win. The rest of the game was still a blur to me and I honestly cannot remember what the final score was, but I know we lost and that was a bit disappointing. This was definitely the time in my life were I felt the most confused that I have ever felt in my entire life. My brain hurt, my vision was blurred and spinning, and I had one of the hardest time trying to stand up and move my body, the only time I could compare that struggle to moving was when I first tried to walk and that was a long time ago.

Blog #3 Time When I Was Confused

It was in third grade when I became at one time my most confused. It was recess time and the weather outside was rainy. We were able to outside after lunch and play on the playground. So as we're going outside me and a couple of kids decided start a game of tag. As the game progressed we had created rules on the go, such us the inability to touch the ground. However it was a fairly large playground, full of many slides, monkey bars, and especially a wobbly bridge. This "wobbly bridge" is what will cause my confusion. The way this happens is that as we were being chased by the tagger, crossing the wobbly bridge, and a combination of rain making the floor wet causes me to slip and fall hitting my head on end of the bridge directly on the metal floor.
At the moment I felt no pain at all and just had a bit of a headache. So I decided to call quits and just walk around the playground trying to regain my train of thought and control. However when walking around I began to notice many of the kids look at me with a shocked look on their faces. I was still baffled and painless of what had just happened until another kid told me I was bleeding. Last thing I remember is me crying to a teacher and ending up in the nurses office getting stitches as my mother comes in. The only good thing that came out of this experience is getting out of school early and getting a lollipop.

#2 What's Funny to Me

Something that I find funny is watching a movie like Jackass or America's Funniest Videos. I love watching these because they are just so funny and they always have something were I can just laugh and laugh. For example Jackass is funny for so many reasons. The cast members of the movie do so many funny and stupid stuff that I just have to laugh my butt off. Like I always remember a few episodes of were they dress up and look like an old man and cause mischief throughout the city and in public. I'm especially excited for the new upcoming Jackass 3D. I've been watching a few trailer and small premiers for the movie that's going to be in theaters really soon and I've been laughing at every one of them.
Now I like America's Funniest Videos for basically the same reason I like Jackass and that is people getting hurt and something funny happening. The only difference is the that in America's Funniest Videos, it's ordinary people usually doing something stupid that just happens to be funny. Like for example one clip was of a family taking a photo while on a dock and as the picture is about to be taken the dock falls down and everybody gets drenched with water from the lake, and now that was one funny clip.
Now when I think about it, it seems that human have enjoyment when other humans are in pain. It seems kind of weird that we(humans) like to laugh when other people are in pain. However there is a certain amount of pain were people find it funny or just scary and gross. Like for example people who watch the movie Saw don't just go watch to laugh, but rather go to watch it and "try" get scared. So next time when I watch a funny video I'll try to figure out why I enjoy to laugh when people are in pain and were the limit is between funny pain and just uncomfortable pain, and maybe you should try to do the same.

#1 The Benefits of Writing

The benefits of writing is that you get to improve many of your basic communication skills. Such as reading, spelling, pronunciation, and understanding. To me I find writing to be very helpful, in the ways it does help me become a better writer. Becoming a better writer should be something in everybody's mind and defiantly one of their goals. A writer who can write about anything and/or make sense of it, that to me would be considered a good writer. However becoming a good writer doesn't just happen. You need to take a lot of time and effort to become a good writer. That is why won goal or adjective I would like to accomplish is to become a better writer and with each passing year I improve on my writing skill and compression. Doing this and improving my skill in writing would not only be good, but actually beneficial. For example writing a transcript for college or even an application for a job. I remember not to long ago I read a story on how people judge someone just by the way they communicate in speech and even writing. This is why benefits of writing is so important in improving not only your knowledge but actually the way people look at you. This in terms will lead you to have a better life and even improve not only your knowledge but also how people will look at you in term of you knowledge and capabilities.
